Context

Priory House is a landmark building in the Southside district of Birmingham and is a key part of the area’s regeneration. The 77,000 sq ft seven-storey building which was constructed in the 1950s, was home to the Forensic Science Service for more than 20 years before it closed in 2011.

The building has lain empty for many years and was purchased by Rainier Developments.  Rainier and their design team used ScanTech Digital’s outputs to create a full planning application and gain consent for 79 apartments with both internal and external amenity space. Rainier have since sold the building onto Elevate Property Group who are undertaking the redevelopment.

Our solution

Provide measured point cloud survey to be presented in 2D drawings & 3D Revit model in order to allow the progression of design for alterations to the existing building.  Dimensional survey to include floor plans and elevations in sufficient detail to accurately reflect the character of the building in two phases: pre strip and post strip.

We completed our on-site works just as the first Covid-19 national lockdown was imposed.
